And the most important happening of all...

Family Tree DNA has just introduced a new feature that provides automatic phasing and improved matching. This is an exciting breakthrough with more to come. See  https://dna-explained.com/2016/07/07/family-tree-dna-introduces-phased-family-finder-matches/.

Current happenings in the world of DNA and genealogy

First, now is the time to order a DNA test from Ancestry.com. It's $79 through July 4th.

Second, MyHeritage.com and Geni.com are both offering new ways to combine DNA results with genealogy. The Geni system is designed to work with Family Tree DNA Family Finder, Y-DNA and mtDNA test results, a unique approach, although Wikitree offers something similar... and for FREE. MyHeritage is accepting DNA uploads but hasn't launched its matching service yet. I'm sure that will come soon. One shortcoming, at least for now, is that they will deal only with autosomal DNA, not Y-DNA and mtDNA..
