New Opportunities for DNA Testing

A Father's Day sale is in progress at Family Tree DNA. It offers upgrades for those who have already tested at least 12 Y-DNA markers. See details here: http://dna-explained.com/2013/06/13/fathers-day-upgrade-sale-at-family-tree-dna/.

The second important announcement this week was that those who have tested with 23andMe or with Ancestry.com can now transfer their results to FTDNA for the nominal sum of only $49. This is wonderful news because FTDNA has a huge database and outstanding tools to evaluate autosomal test results. (Note that your DNA doesn't actually leave 23andMe or Ancestry.com in this transfer process. You will continue to find new results there.) By taking advantage of this new opportunity, you increase your odds of finding matches and identifying cousins quite dramatically.
