23andMe to Family Tree DNA
Have you tested with 23andMe? Would you like to tap the largest DNA database for genealogy? Now you can! Many people who test with 23andMe do so for health reasons; they are not into genealogy. As a result, those of us who try to expand our own genealogy by finding DNA matches at 23andMe are often thwarted. The answer could be that those you match at 23andMe are simply not interested. There is a solution. For a modest fee, you can now transfer your test results from 23andMe to Family Tree DNA and take advantage of its huge database of genealogy-minded people. There are restrictions, and there is a time limit on transferring, so please refer to the following blog, which has all the details: Your Genetic Genealogist. If you miss the deadline, the alternative is to simply order a Family Finder test from Family Tree DNA directly. A bit more expensive but worthwhile if you are interested in finding distant cousins.
